I wouldn’t care so much about winter…I really, really wouldn’t care…except that when we have really inclement weather, I can’t get to work because I live out in the country. The highway is often impassable, or dangerous, anyway, because of the weather. Right now, we have about a half-inch of ice underneath the snow that’s now falling. Obviously, it’d be dangerous to drive 20 miles on the highway if it’s just solid ice.

If I lived in there, particularly where I want to live, it’d be no big deal to go to work because it’s within walking distance of the building I work in. But, due to extenuating circumstances, for now, I live here.

And my boss pisses me off, too. She can’t really complain about it, because the HR director has given a company-wide acceptance of people who can’t make it in on bad days…but she is the sort of person who can belittle you and get your guilt skittering without even saying a word.

Obviously, I should not be blogging while I’m pissed off. Really, I’m a happier person than this, I swear.

A few days ago (Sunday, I think. Which, okay, is more than ”a few days,” but whatever), I noticed a few bumps on the underside of my chin. I had just snuggled my dad’s exceptionally furry cat and I have a reactive allergy to cat dander, hers in particular (meaning it only flares if I touch her), so I thought nothing of it. Few days went by, mini-rash didn’t get better, but didn’t get worse, either–thought nothing of it.

Then Wednesday, before work, it was suddenly very red and itchy–and was now all over my neck and underside of my chin. I suffered, miserably, through work that day — and it only kept spreading and getting worse.

Wednesday night, I felt like I must’ve felt when I was just a wee bairn. I have longish nails, so in effort to keep myself from scratching my neck to the point of bleeding, I wore my gloves all Wednesday night. At least, that way, I wasn’t scratching myself with my nails.

I made an emergency appointment with my gp (had to ramp it up to the office manager to get in on such late notice, but both my father and I have some clout there (story for another day,)) so eventully, I managed to wrangle an early morning appointment for Thursday. I was going to go to work after the appointment, but I was so miserable (and oozing…) by that point, that I vetoed that idea.

Turns out it’s not the plague (though I’m not convinced.) Apparently, I’ve managed to be the first in my family to develop ECZEMA. How awesome is that? (*insert eyeroll here*) It makes me feel like I have the plague, certainly. It didn’t help when I was talking to my boss this morning she kept looking at my rash (which now spreads down my chest a ways) and giggling. But this is a woman who we can tell what day of the week it is by which shirt she’s wearing. Don’t get me started on the shoes.

Long story semi short–I’m fine. Hopefully, it’ll go away soon and I can stop feeling like a leper. Until then, why don’t you come over here where I can rub myself all over you? The water’s warm!

Okay, that’s not exactly true. More like, I made a better friend of someone I’ve considered a friend for awhile now?

L and I met awhile ago due, I believe, to something I had written. She commented on it, then a few more things I wrote and then we began to exchange emails and cards back and forth. Recently, we’ve begun talking on IM and can I just say that this woman is one of the absolute most brilliant women I’ve ever met, without a doubt. She’s the only other person who uses big words like I do and we managed to spend most of today, during our conversations, talking about politics, history and religion. How gorgeous is that? I feel like I have so few people with whom I can really have in-depth discussions like that. That was really bad English, ignore that.

I’m not nearly as political as I want to be. I will admit, to anyone, that I’m a Democrat. I’ll admit that even if it’s just on that basis that I would be ashamed and embarrassed if anyone ever thought I was a Republican. Now, I have Republican friends…okay, one…but we don’t discuss that, much like my best friend, who’s religious, and I don’t discuss religion…but that’s an entirely different post.

L makes me want to get more involved. She’s not an activist, per se. Not like a girl I knew in college, who’s worked on both Kerry’s and Mrs. Clinton’s campaigns and met them as well as Edwards, McCain (I think), Mr. Clinton and, unfortunately, Mitt Romney…she’s a force to be reckoned with. So we don’t reckon. I digress. L makes me want to start reading newspapers again and paying attention. Um. But, not the local newspaper because…yeah. I’ll get the Trib, pls. Kthx.

So tomorrow after work, I’m going to go to Starbucks, feel terribly important about myself, order a White Mocha and read USA Today. I am THAT COOL.

So, this means you’re gonna need to be patient with me. I’m trying to figure out a layout I like and? Well. It’s a work in progress is all I’m gonna say. I’m only…mildly craptastic with the CSS so everyone will learn together!

I’ll be redoing the banner and layout–eventually–on this site. Well, I hope to in the next week. My laptop is currently sick (motherboard probs) but I hope to fix that tomorrow and once I do, I’ll be able to at least slap up a new banner. I want to pad the site a bit, too. Add more pages, more indepth-ed-ness. (Like a page about how I like to make up words? Natch.)

Now I’m going to go watch an AWESOME indie flick and avoid studying. Maybe I’ll eat some pizza, too. Awesome.

But, I think I’ll try and get back into it. It’s sort of…excuse my nerdiness, fun to pour my feelings and soul and EMOTIONS and BRAIN into a blog that, essentially, no one reads. It’s like I’m a TARDIS. I exist, I’m there, I’m not invisible, but still, nobody notices me.

Did I mention the nerd part?

In a way, the de-blogging has been a good thing. I’ve gotten a lot of reading done that I haven’t been doing. Not required reading, or anything, but pleasure reading. Although, now I need to stop. Or split my time, at least, as I have another test coming up for work that I need to study for. The class (which I’m doing self-study, which? Me? Self-study? Riiiight.) is for a designation in my field. That’s the first time I’ve said that, “my field,” regarding the field I’m currently in, as it’s not the one I went to school for. Oh well. Thanks, George Bush!

The designations aren’t required but they are strongly suggested. In addition to that class and test, I have at least one day of class, if not two, for the next two and a half months, excepting the first week in March. Fun. And then another class for this first designation. And, if I pass both tests? Yay, I win!

But in order to win I have to study, so I suppose I should go do that. Ooh, or maybe…well, I ‘m sure I can find something else to do.

It was a shopping Saturday (I only go every other week, or every two weeks), so I was meant to get up at 4:30 to leave by 5:30…ended up waking up at 3:30 and I couldn’t fall back asleep. So, did grocery shopping, requisite Starbucks stop and then home to put groceries away. And…that’s it. I went into my bedroom, stretched out on the bed and completely vegged out all day.

It was awesome.

But, on the other hand, it sucked because I could’ve gotten so much done. Blargh.

It’s really lame when I can’t even relax on my days off without feeling guilty. Stupid responsible adult crap.

I quit. I am so headed back to 8th grade.
